Blimey. That is actually amazing.
That cellist though, the beard on it! Looks like he’s just crawled his way out of some burrow in the forest to play the thing.

hard agre on bwp's production†. one of the reasons why i always preferred this record. theres just more raw, warm dissonance and the guitar tone is perfect
†FUCK YOU STEVEN WILSON

Whilst their first 2 records are a bit more all over the place I wouldn't describe this as homogenous

I think you guys might be onto something re BWP's production. Fck'n Wilson.

The volleyball?

All Opeth post Morningrise is kinda homogenous, and BWP wears it better than this because the songs are mostly better and deserve the wavy shadowhaze denseprod more thank you for coming to my tedx
|

Heritage broke that mold a bit, but yeah - generally agree

Watershed

I don't agree with that either Johnny. Ghost Reveries, Watershed, Heritage and the other proggier outings don't sound homogenous to me at all. Nor does My Arms by the way, whaaaat, that one isn't homogenous!?
|
| |
ok clarify :
everything from mayh to GR is a long game of How Much Mileage Does This Riff Really Have (Yeah It's More Than You Thought) with a few unconventional chords and equally repetitive acoustic breaks thrown in to fuck with the dungeon gang
and sometimes that is good songwriting but it is always homogenous

Wasn't that their approach for Orchid and Morningrise as well though Johnny?

Yeah MAYH is anything but homogenous, I can kind of maybe understand that perspective for a few but definitely not that one. Watershed and Ghost Reveries as well, whaaaa?
|
| |
@trif partially but those played a semifunctional jigsaw game that was too whut to be homogenous

I think it mainly applies to the Steven Wilson era actually, BWP-Deliverance-Damnation, with clear signs during Still Life already. I don't feel it applies to any of their other records.

Johnny you just described Deliverance, that's one album.

Exactly. That's something I can agree with.
