Amnesiac really really does not give of that vibe for me. It feels like Kid A to me but for some reason I just can't get into it like the other Radiohead albums. It's just so unbelievably inconsistent

THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, BUT WE HAVE TO MAKE IT THAT WAY, WHENEVER YOU FIND HOME WE'LL MAKE IT MORE THAN JUST A SHELTER, AND IF EVERYONE BELONGS THERE IT WILL HOLD US ALL TOGETHER, IF YOURE AFRAID TO DIE THAN SO AM I

"It's [Amnesiac] just so unbelievably inconsistent"
I never thought so. It kind of takes me away every time I hear it. Honestly, at this point I wouldn't change a thing about it. It's one of my favorite albums ever.
See the thing is Ryus, Amnesiac isn't trying to be like Kid A.
I almost feel like they serve as each other's foils since they're obviously companion albums yet they have such a contrast in vibe.
Kid A is outside exposed, open, cold. Amnesiac is inside, covered, almost warm. Kid A is so overwhelmed with information, while Amnesiac is trying to forget all of it.
I love them both, but in a way Amnesiac hits me harder for the simple fact that it's so purposefully absent minded. That I can just be put into a trance by it and forget everything else.
Damn, I romanticized the hell out of it.

Haha you did indeed, yet I don't feel any of that. It feels as cold and calculated as Kid A, yet it lacks in execution and songwriting. Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors is completely unnecessary, Hunting Bears is a Radiohead filler, something I would never want, and I Might Be Wrong is a repetitive and uninteresting track. I don't mean to take down Amnesiac, and maybe it just hasn't clicked with me yet like all other Radiohead albums (save PH) but it just doesn't feel that way to me.

"I Might Be Wrong is a repetitive and uninteresting track."
I'm actually kind of bothered by this comment, since it's my favorite Radiohead song of all time.
I feel like a big reason why Amnesiac gets so much flack is because it came out 1 year after Kid A and out of the same sessions, so people expected it to be similar.
If anything, "I Might Be Wrong" is a good example of how different Amnesiac's mood is. The song is about forgetting about the past and moving on with your life. Trying to enjoy your life despite past mistakes.
Also I always saw "Hunting Bears" as another example of the album's interpretation of forgetting, though I know it isn't a standout. I like it a hell lot better than "Treefingers." "Treefingers" is probably one of the biggest reasons I have a trouble 5ing Kid A.
Pulk/Pull is probably the worst song on Amnesiac, but I don't know, I still have a soft spot for it.
Amnesiac clicked with me upon first listen. I don't know what else to say except for the fact that's not supposed to be an "epic" album like Kid A is, but more of chilled out and passive.

Haha sorry. I had a feeling that wouldn't go down well. A lot of people seem to like it, I don't hate it but idk something about it isn't too great imho.
I feel like a big reason why Amnesiac gets so much flack is because it came out 1 year after Kid A and out of the same sessions, so people expected it to be similar.
And going into Amnesiac I didn't have that assumption at all. I was uncertain what it was going to sound like, and it's its own separate entity but I don't think that's my gripe with it. My problem with Amnesiac has nothing to do with its relation to Kid A, but simply because of the aforementioned tracks (along with some others [Knives Out, Dollars & Cents]). Come to think of it, I barely like any songs on Amnesiac, and I'm not sure why but I just don't
I agree with you about Treefingers btw, that's why I have this 4.5'd instead of 5'd really

"You just don't get Treefingers."
Oh, I get it, I just don't think it was implemented nearly as well as it could have been. So don't get all pretentious on me Baron. The concept of Treefingers is wonderful, but its ambience could have been intense and grand, but instead its lifeless and barely even there.
@Ryus: Really? I love "Knives Out" and "Dollars and Cents" too. It's a shame you're not into them.
The guitar is both is really appealing to me and the Donner Party type situation about cannibalism in "Knives Out" is so interesting to me.
It's funny, I guess I romanticize Amnesiac so much because I relate to it. The absentmindedness, the urge to forget about everything in the past for an hour and just enjoy life for what it is now even if it's just laying on my bed listening to music and doing nothing else. I don't know.

The opener is awesome though. And Pyramid Song. And You And Whose Army? is cool. And so is Like Spinning Plates. But
goddamnit if Life In A Glasshouse isn't fantastic

Yeah, they're all great.
Can you do me a favor? Next time you listen to "Knives Out", listen to the lyrics closely. Although I love the entire song, for that one, the lyrics is the biggest highlight. You might like it more.

When I think of either Ok Computer or In Rainbows, I instantly think of the other as well. Those have always been my two favorite and then when I heard about the 0110 Playlist and the whole alternating, complimenting track thing it kind of made sense. Kid A is amazing too. Those are my top 3 for sure.
