I'm nervous af for Sunday. I need the Eagles to beat the shit out of the Commanders but the Commies play the Birds hard as hell and the games are always full of bullshit every season. Living in Maryland I have to deal with all the obnoxious Commie fans too.

haha i'm giving the washington fans in my life a pass this year they've lived through almost 35 years of misery and finally have a qb that warrants this excitement. especially when they could've easily hopped on the ravens bandwagon with no one batting an eye.

I don't blame them for being excited this year. They're obnoxious even when they suck. They just always light up the Eagles defense no matter who their QB is so they always get to talk shit against me. But yeah their fans have always been loyal so I'll give them that.

Why do Steelers fans hate the Eagles so much?
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.0
They share a state and are vastly different types of cities
|
| |
Same reason I'd imagine Giants and Jets fans hate each other
Also I wonder if the riot after their Super Bowl win has something to do with why Eagles fans are hated. I know that's the origin of my dislike lol that and the bullying of that really old Vikings fan

Eagles fans booed and pelted Santa with snowballs back in the late 60s and Phillies fans have been known to throw batteries at people and players. It's been a very long time thing.

Yeah that does not surprise me

"Eagles fans booed and pelted Santa with snowballs back in the late 60s"
Tell the full story. The actual Santa didn't show up so they grabbed a dude out of the crowd who was belligerently drunk to put on a Santa costume and try to fill in the role. The dude sucked and it was obvious to everyone he was wasted so they threw snowballs at him.
That said though, Pittsburgh and Philly are super far apart in the state and the teams don't really have anything to do with each other since they're in different conferences. I wouldn't say it's like the Giants and Jets since their fans are in the same location and play in the same stadium.

And that just leaves the Saints as the only HC vacancy left. (I know the Cowboys is also vacant but thats pretty much down to Brian Schottenheimer unless Deion goes there)
Our Options are apparently as follows:
Mike McCarthy
Joe Brady
Mike Kafka
Kliff Kingsbury
Kellen Moore
Dan Rizzi (our interim)
Anthony Weaver
Not exactly inspiring confidence.

I know a lot of older Pittsburgh people have a problem with Philly and there usually isn't a problem the other way around. Most older Pittsburgh fans I run into always have some snide comment when I say I'm an Eagles fan lol, otherwise it's pretty cordial. Philly usually gets more attention nationally and I think it's kind of a little brother type thing. But Flyers/Penguins is definitely a pretty big rivalry too, though not so much these days since the Flyers have sucked for a while. And I guess Pirates/Phillies was big back in the day before they switched divisions. So yeah, same state, very different cities.
Imo Eagles fans just have the stereotype from the incident in the 60s and that's just never left because it gets clicks and attention. Philly is good at shit talking, but a lot of people are just joking around when they do that stuff too. That's kind of just how the northeast is lol. Yeah, some people are assholes. Not denying that nothing bad happens. But there are assholes literally everywhere. And there was not mass rioting at the super bowl celebration, I was there lol. Some people were dumb and climbed on shit they shouldn't have, but it was very peaceful and nothing of consequence happened. Ready for the homer blah blah blah type shit, but look at the link below where there are damn SHOOTINGS at championship celebrations. I would venture to say we're not labeling those cities as violent places because of a few bad eggs. Also of note, the Pistons celebration in 1990 where 8 people died, multiple Vancouver Canucks riots, Dolphins fan killing a Patriots fan last year, Dodgers fans killing a Giants fan, the Ravens fan knocking out the Commies fan earlier this year, etc. Again, not saying nothing bad ever happens in Philly and I think it's insanelyyyyyyyyy stupid to fight about sports, but you mix alcohol and idiot fans and unfortunately you get stupid shit.

McCarthy or Brady would be great hires imo. I'd probably go with McCarthy. You just need to win the South and then see what happens.

Yeah I went to the Super Bowl parade too and it was just a big party without anything crazy going on. Everyone was happy (and cold).
I hate the Penguins since the Flyers are my favorite sports team and I mostly hate the Steelers by proxy of being in Ravens country but I've also hated their uniforms since I was a little kid so I guess I just have a better way of justifying it now.

pittsburgh is in western pennsylvania. the entire surrounding area of that city is trump country
think i brought it up before but i went to the steelers/jets game this past season. there was an entire republican rally outside the stadium (which included antonio brown and leveon bell signing autographs hilariously). not only that but trump literally attended the game and sat in the pressbox. you'd have thought jesus was in the building.
pittsburgh itself is a pretty dead city on non-gamedays. the job market there sucks and high school / college graduates are moving away in droves according to family that lives there.
all that is to say... most people who live in/around pittsburgh see "high functioning" cities like philly and baltimore to be places you could get stabbed or drugged or raped on any and every street corner.
i told aforementioned family members i was going to philly for a concert and they reacted like i said north korea.

Brother I work for Indeed and my Pittsburgh clients are suffering rn it’s legit so tough over there. I have clients in bumfuck Tennessee having an easier time finding talent than in Pittsburgh.

@Alex - I went to a friend's wedding out in Canonsburg and yeah I saw Trump signs in all the desolate land out there. I like Pittsburgh as a city and used to go there a decent bit when I was a teenager for hockey tournaments but what you described doesn't surprise me. I'm about 15 minutes outside of Baltimore and while I make sure I'm aware of my surroundings when I'm up there, I've never had fear walking around downtown. It's funny hearing people act like you'll get kidnapped and tortured the second you step foot into the city.
My dad's girlfriend went up to New York city recently and you should've heard how terrified she was to be in public there and at the thought of using the subway. She's an incredibly intelligent woman too but it's crazy to hear how out of touch people are with reality.
