Has anyone in the band actually spoken about their thoughts on Gore since its release? Seems like we conjecture on their behalf a lot

KNY is DE’s chad brother
Also this IS their worst album... Adrenaline is so disrespected these days

The thing is, I'm listening to this now and noting how Chino and Stephen had creative tension during all this. SNW aside, which I can't even fathom how good it is for this reason, the more unified this band is, the better the album. Hence WP, DE, KNY.

I'll probably criticized to death, but deftones can become the American answer to a-ha and I'll not be even mad.

"SNW aside, which I can't even fathom how good it is for this reason, the more unified this band is, the better the album. Hence WP, DE, KNY."
SNW is best deftones and s/t is in top 4 so you're wrong, gore is the only exception.
I also believe that it's the only exception because it seems that while the band was going through dark times on s/t and SNW they were creatively still close to each other, they just couldn't get along and were having personal issues as well. Whereas on this one both Abe and Steph had huge creative differences with Chino and Sergio and that ended up not translating well on the album which is to be expected.

SNW ain't their best, but they never made a song better than Cherry Waves

it is indeed their best
""Chino and Sergio are probably the only ones in the band who loved it in the first place."
why Sergio exactly?"
Because Chino said that Gore was mainly the input of him and Sergio. Steph flat out refused to play on H/W and didn't like the direction of the album and Abe wasn't too fond of it either.

Sergio is easily the weakest member of the band currently tbf

What about the clown on the turntables

frank is a real one

Source for Carpenter not playing on H/W? Iirc all he said was that he had to try and get into a different headspace to write a guitar part for the song, and didn't really connect with it initially

Yeah thats all i remember hearing. Theres definitely two guitars in that song.

Yeah I should clarify, he initially refused to play on it but then did after it grew on him I guess. Still, the part about him heading in a different direction creatively is what matters the most.

I agree it seems like this thing was mostly Chino's baby and it def suffers from that

I'm gonna whine like a baby if they don't release a new album that is like Koi No Yokan or Diamond Eyes or something new and fiveable. AND RELEASE IT NOW!
