Considering the various possible meanings of that phrase, I don't know what you're trying to say lol. But just to be clear in case you misunderstand my position, I like Tool. I just dislike a lot of Tool fans because of obvious reasons.



And most "smug Toolsters" basically reiterate the same stuff almost word for word. They're not really exploring ideas because they think they have it all figured out. But, to be fair, the Tool bashers all say the same things too. It's more entertaining when the bashers argue with the "smug Toolsters" imo.

Tool is one of those bands that I shit on constantly even though they're super important to me and I think all their albums are at least good.

Idk I just pictured Tool pulling some elaborate April Fools joke because they love trolling their fans lol. Wasn't really meant to be provocative, more like a bad joke that sounded like a funny idea in my head. Of course, I don't I think they'd actually go that far, although at this point their new album is almost a myth and I really wouldn't put anything past them lol



When Tool played at RotR in Columbus, there was a bunch of people complaining on FB about how "terrible" they were and how they weren't supporting RotR anymore just because they let Tool play there lol, so dumb. I'd say the bashers are just as bad as (or worse) than the pretentious-type fans. I just get more annoyed at the latter group because they're a big reason why a lot of people hate Tool and their fans. Of course, people shouldn't generalize the entire fan-base because of a few idiots, but oh well.
