You would be right Jeremy c: as far as melodic post hardcore goes, TOCS is where it all started

TOCS is a classic, ESPECIALLY for its time

tocs would be way better if spencer actually sounded like spencer instead of just trying to copy dallas (which the dude has even admitted to doing)

tbh even his vocals nowadays i prefer over his dallas-aping TOCS style, but even then i've been tuning that out and not letting it bother me because the damn hooks on that record are infectious

the only problem i have with TOCS is one that i've been tuning out specifically in order to enjoy it more; Spencer's really high screechy screams.

tocs was always awful for me as someone who listen to DTGL 1st. DTGL has everything amped up. the production is beefier, spencer's screams are low as fuck and awesome, the guitars are much more post rocky and shit
TOCS is like a local band's 1st album.
they just somehow jumped to a complete masterpiece in 1 album cycle haha.
keep in mind - didn't properly listen to UO til like 2015 and Disambig was already setting the bar for me back then. TOCS just seems like kiddie music comparatively

its got bangers like im content w losing and dangerous business but for the most part its pretty devoid of what made them so "next level" to me. also doesnt help that crowbar is better than all of it

exaaaaactly. people love UO for a lot of reasons i guess, but i consider DTGL and on to be the real musicianship being shown you know

I think DTGL is closer to TOCS than LITSOS

Nah. TOCS was great when I was 14 or whatever but it just feels really immature to me now. Only a couple songs hold up, the rest is kinda rough to get through these days.
