ITP destroys most other Death, largely out of being their least repetitive and most experimental record. In other words, the fact that the verse>Prechorus>chorus>bridge>solo>refrain>sudden stop formula isn’t used quite as much as on their other albums

Keep in mind that despite my 5 I’ve given this album now, I still completely understand why I used to give this a 3.5 once upon a time. Even as one of my favorite Death albums nowadays, it’s repetitive as fuck from a songwriting standpoint. I guess the reason it grew on me is because I like the consistency it has, as well as how hard-hitting the melodic moments are
