I would argue that the t/t and Thousands of Miles are among some of the absolute worst songs they've ever written lol

I think if they just cut out that second verse in the title track it could’ve been so much better. It feels like it’s building instrumentally and then it suddenly goes quiet again when it should’ve just kept up the momentum.

I don’t really have a problem with Thousands of Miles Between Us. The last minute or so really shows that Jacob has a decent singing voice, I wish he’d use it more often.

Idk, the album has grown on me a ton since it came out.

I love the t/t and think Thousands of Miles is OK. I think the "problem" if anything with TDIU is that it has so much variety. It could be seen as a strength but since they do so many different things you really have to like all those things to like the record as a whole. So it can become polarizing for sure.

The t/t on TDIU is so bad.

A Single Tear is an absolutely beautiful song. Up there with the best of the Converge canon. Btw I don’t think Converge played it safe on Dusk. I just didn’t like all of their experiments on that record. And I loved some of the b sides. Lmao Melancholia is so meaty and fucking punk rock.

If you’re talking about Beautiful Ruin as the b-sides, then yeah, I’m right there with you. That EP is a much better than Dusk.

Yeah Beautiful Ruin has some great cuts. I think Dusk just got away from them. Still a great and worthwhile project too, just not up to the quality of most of their output.

@Pikazilla Converge is working on new material according to Ben Koller. But that might still mean another year before a new record materializes. They're supposed to have a song on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack though, so I guess that comes out soon?

yeah "aimless arrow" is an amazing....streamlining (?) of their sound. doesn't feel like a betrayal but def more melodic and accessible, but the ending gives that classic converge Hit and leads brilliantly into "trespasses" which honestly is about as good, at least
