I'm not saying there aren't some hopeless situations, but really exhaust your options man. Almost all places have a scene if you try hard enough.

that's what ian mackaye did with the dischord bands. since they weren't allowed in clubs, they said "fuck you, we don't wanna drink anyway." could happen all over again if i really try m/

Start a band, dude. When I was 16, maybe even younger, I was going to 21+ shows on occasion by being on the bill. You play, and then stick around for the other bands. And man, you're a drummer. If you're even slightly dependable, people are going to want to be in a band with you.

yeah man i've been recording my own stuff where i play all the instruments, that way i could play really anything if a band i like needs something. plus i feel pretty good about what i have so far
