I generally don't separate the art from the artist as well as I used to. For example, I barely listen to Daughters anymore and their last album used to be one of my favorites. I can't even hear Kanye anymore without just naturally feeling gross.

This is one of my favorite death metal albums of all time, so it sucks that it doesn't connect with you, Jurtz, but I get it. It's not like I'm gonna throw on Burzum anytime soon lol - but I agree, I don't really think Immolation are immoral as individuals, or at least I have never gotten that vibe before.

@dedes I'll check out those albums fs.

@Rowhaus @Frost15 I'm glad to hear that the musicians themselves are chill and friendly, that you also see with Cannibal Corpse, sweetest dudes you've ever met.

With Kanye, well, he is bipolar and afaik he is off his medication completely. I wouldn't be surprised if he is in a manic episode, as he clearly displays symptoms of psychosis. It's a sad thing to see. I'm pretty sure he'd come back from his antics once medicated and following some form of therapy.

Kanye chosing not to medicate and go to therapy is essentially selfish of him as a father. Speaking a bit from experience here as my mother is pretty similar..

My point was that I don't think that excuses him or even is a valid explanation for him being an anti-Semitic psychopath, which is a pretty common thing I see online. Two things can be true at the same time, he can be bi-polar but he can also just be an absolute asshole aside from that.

I just said that because Jurtz (who seems to be pretty rad, not coming at them) said that Kanye is bi-polar in response to my comment about how I can't listen to him anymore.

It's indeed not an excuse to wear a black KKK outfit or sell shirts with a swastika on it, among other insane acts.

all i'm going to say that if you went into an album with this album cover and these song titles and expected anything other than anti-religion, you are jason bateman looking into the dead dove bag on arrested development

I guess I understand your principle jurtz. But it has been mentioned that of all topics in dm to be borderline offended by, anti-christianity is kind of a strange one to fixate on.

This is just simply one of the greatest dm albums ever written. Like I said I get the sentiment but it has a super high avg for good reason imo

I respect your vigilance

Also I will say that I see both sides. I was brought up in a very Christian household. When I was 16, shortly before I was to be confirmed in my church at the time, I made the decision that I didn't want anything to do with it.

There are plenty of people that I still know through the church who are legitimately good people, including my parents. The church offers a belief system, but I believe wholeheartedly that they would be good people even without the belief system they have in Christianity. Simple good ideals - helping people in need and similar things.

I will also say that I see the other side of it, what immolation is writing about. There have been no shortage of false prophets. And there has been no shortage of people barstardizing the religion for some kind of personal gain. Child abuse in the catholic church (specifically, but in other Christian denominations as well) is pretty well-documented at this point.

All of that said, I chose when I was younger to not believe in things I can't see myself. I identify as agnostic. I truly believe that the means to prove or disprove any deity's existence don't currently exist and idk if they ever will. I have seen and heard so much over my lifetime that just caused me to doubt any god 's existence, and at this point I dont believe any of that stuff is real.

Just my experience & 2 cents
