One of the most consistent albums I've ever heard

Incredibly consistent in quality, and in style :/

Don't get me wrong, every track on here is gorgeous, but that's probably why this will never be a 5 for me. It's all so pretty, on the verge of being homogeneously so. It lacks the eclecticism, the danger, and the sinister undercurrents that characterise Radiohead's best work. The whole "paranoid android" part of Radiohead's sound is nowhere to be found here, except maybe in some self-deprecating lyrics.

I've decided after listening to both records a million times that I prefer A Moon Shaped Pool. It has nicer production and much more variety than this, even if the flow isn't as good. After the paranoia of Burn The Witch, Daydreaming is like a valium. After the sleepy prettiness of Desert Island Disk, the dissonance coursing through Ful Stop is like crack to me. Right up there with the smouldering wreckage of The National Anthem giving way to HTDC, or Pyramid Song's majesty unraveling into the discord of Pulk/Pull.

This here album has none of that contrast. Aside from Bodysnatchers, it's all smooth sailing.

literally my favourite album ever but i can see where you're coming from with the edge thing if that's what you're hankering for. amsp has a lot more of that in subtleties, and not so subtly on ful stop

i would strongly disagree with the insinuation that this isn't a varied release tho

also pulk/pull is the most polarising radiohead song ever

I see Nude mentioned a lot as one of the best songs off this if not in Radiohead's whole discography

When did it click for you guys? 6 or 7 listens through this at this point and it's easily my least favorite track here.

Weird Fishes, Videotape, and Jigsaw are probably my faves off this. Whole thing rules though. I don't dislike Nude even, it just feels really forgettable and a tad bit limp compared to everything else here to me. Hoping that'll change.

"Nude" is an exquisite little song. It doesn't leap out at you like the others, but it really is one of the best.

The great thing about in rainbows is that it's probably the bands warmest album. It doesn't try to alienate you at all but bring you in with lush textures
