I could absolutely see this being gateway music to metal, but my musical trajectory was an odd one. I grew up listening to jazz and classical music, a bit of pop/electronica, and didn't get into rock outside the Beatles until my late teens, and metal until my early twenties. My introduction to prog/rock more outside the mainstream was Coheed, and it took me years to get into them because at the time they were too "heavy" for me outside of their singles. So I think if ST existed back then, it could've drawn me into heavier music, because of its strong pop sensibilities and the metal parts being sporadic. Like how Coheed is poppy prog rock, and now I also listen to drone/noise/distortion, and all sorts of weird, obscure metal.

PyramidNoise donning a og lost soul is both beautiful and saddening due to my own avpocalypse experience. Nice to see either way

Also, this having nearly a .5 average below TMBTE is wild to me. I think it's a much better album (I gave TMBTE a whole point below what I rated this).

I have to admit, I'm mostly a sucker for the tones, melodies, and the implementation of the R&B flavour.
Nothing groundbreaking, but the way they tie it together is cool, and it sounds great.
I think 3.5-4 is where I sit with most of their stuff.
I couldn't care less about the lyrics.
I'm not going to listen to this in my own time, or any of it, but I'm not going to act like it isn't really well done.
I don't rate anything that I haven't listened to all the way through, and because I don't tend to finish things I don't like, my objectivity is bad. Mind you, I haven't really made an effort to rate anything in well over a decade, except for recently.

confusing messages here. So it’s not worthwhile enough to devote any of your “own time” to, yet it’s undoubtedly pretty good (but you’re not actually gonna listen to it, so how would you know?) 🤔
|
| |
Because I have listened to a lot of it, and because I have preferences for what I like to listen to. I don't think that's very strange.
I never said it wasn't worthwhile, just that it isn't really what I usually prefer to listen to.
I haven't listened to plenty of records all the way through, that doesn't mean I didn't really enjoy what I heard at the time. We all have different preferences and priorities when it comes to our listening experiences.

Idk, if I wasn’t willing to devote any of my own time (even a little) to something, then I’d consider it not very worthwhile music.
It sounds like some “objectivity” pandering nonsense.

That's on you, friend. You can't project your own values and sensibilities onto other people in an effort to rationalize things you can't relate to.

What does it say that I put my Spotify on private when checking this album? Am I a rotten man?
|

Rotten? No. Maybe a bit insecure.

I see. I must publicly embrace the Vessel!!
