“Last 2 tracks are the best in the album lmao"

I can see it.

I feel like my favorite track changes after every complete listen of the album.

He's never liked a single closer out of these guys lol. Amethyst being his least favorite is quite the take.

Fantano is a good reviewer, simple as. He knows how to communicate a lot of different genres without being off-putting

Just getting around to this. Amethyst is a straight up god-tier track imo. The rest is great too, though not as immediate for me. Probably my favorite from them, and I haven't been able to get into anything post-Sunbather so this was a great surprise.

I felt like that was one of his worst reviews. Glad he scored it well and yellow flannel’s it but gosh it felt like it was missing so much depth and analysis. He said like one sentence about Winona. There were several tracks he never even brought up. It was so short. Like… where was the review? Am I the only one who felt this way?

You guys should stop crying over Winona. It's a highly acclaimed and deservedly received album.

Fantano isn't really an analysis channel, he's more of a surface level yay-or-nay guy. He isn't the best reviewer nor the most in-depth, but the breadth of music he covers and open arms approach to turning more people onto some weird music is a net good. He has a pretty narrow view of metal, but that's fine.

I don't worry about averages here or anywhere other than a bit of a temperature check on how stuff is received. I have grown very tired of people pointing to numbers (both sales and aggregate critic/user scores) and worrying about them as if we are partaking in a shareholders meeting. It's always been an issue, but it's grown to be a bigger part of the discourse as stan culture and aggregate sites have taken off

another issue is the whole culture around assuming someone with a different opinion is just a contrarian trying to be different, makes people think they need to be in with the zeitgeist to not get yelled at. Oh no someone says an album that isn't the consensus favorite is their #1 they're obviously a hipster trying to be different let's yell at them and 5spost them to death
