It could be worse than getting the full SIDABS & CTTOG dosis... but yeah EIF tt ruled hard when seeing them in Berlin...

"Thank you so very fucking much *insert city*. We are Ulcerate and this is our last song for tonight. Stare into death and be still."
I shit you not that is verbatim what he said and that was it.
@ Fear - we did not have Pyrrhon, but Manat and Spirit Possession instead.
The singer of Manat jumped off stage, grabbed my beer, chugged it, and handed it back to me. Caught him after their set and he offered to buy me another one lol.

meb what did you think of Spirit Possession? I dont mind them on record but we left the venue after the first two songs to hit a bar around the corner..

Pyrrhon was cool for what we watched but I think having an additional opening act is why they didn't play Dead Oceans. It was 11:15 when they finished too so it makes sense. Sucks, but makes sense! My buddy and I found Spirit Possession personally to be really lame. I like thrash metal a bit but I don't love it and personally the vocalists constant weird noises he kept making were a huge cringe-fest in my opinion. My friend and I just streamed the monday night game Eagles vs. Packers on his phone during their set. As major eagles fans, we don't know what was worse, their set or the game. Ulcerate was amazing and Pyrrhon kicked ass for the 3 songs I saw lol. Overall pretty great night! I need to get earbuds though for ear protection, my ears were killing me after Ulcerate.

yes, to go along with Meborphus's statement, this was word for word what he said. They didn't talk at all besides that. Pyrrhon was funny as shit though. "Guys we got merch! We got...we got shorts and uhhh tie dye shirts! ummm go birds!" lol

Agreed that Spirit Possession was very *shrug*. I do not blame you for leaving during their set lol
Manat on the other hand was very fun, groovy death/thrash. They're only on Bandcamp and YT - I'd rec a listen.
Also, go birds, hell yea

Bruhhhhh earbuds are crucial, I can't stand going to shows without them. You can get a decent pair for like $20 or $30 and they save your ears so much lol.
Spirit possession was terribad lmao, it was like they brought kvlt cringelords from 1992 and dropped them onstage. Agreed on Manat, they were killer. Did you take him up on the replacement beer? Lol
And ya, that game was fukt. Kinda glad I missed the first half while on the phone with my girl, but glad they pulled through lol

I have never worn earbuds at a show tbh. Maybe I should give it a shot for the DS/Bogg show.

After raw dogging raves, metal and hardcore shows for 15 years then finally using earplugs, I can never go back. Also if you're on gremlin time and going to afters, they help you feel much less shitty the next day

yeah i'd never go to a show without earplugs ever again good way to go deaf later in life. ngl the audio usually sounds better with a good pair because it cuts out a lot of the distortion

Honestly, live sound has improved so much over the last few decades that most shows arent deafeningly loud anymore. Not to say earbuds arent a good measure to take, but I rarely wear them unless I go to a venue where the sound guy doesnt know what he's doing and has everything needlessly cranked

Instrumentals for Spirit Possession was not the problem at all for me. It was the constant weird vocal inflection's that were thrown in and along with the fact that I really don't feel like they fit the tour at all. Pyrrhon was a perfect match and to me should've had the longer set but I know they weren't on the full tour but for the Philly show I'd much more appreciate their set being longer. Apparently, according to the conversation I had with the vocalist of Pyrrhon that most of the band members are from and live in Philly despite being a NY based group.

more on earbuds... I'd suggest a pair that is meant for concerts. They lower the volume less than 'safety' earbuds (only like 10db) and provide clearer sound. I have the eargasm ones and they're nice.

To ask I I don't like metal because I don't dig Spirit Possession's vocals or overall aesthetic/music is pretty ridiculous. We all have our differing of opinions and tastes, I just don't vibe with them or their live-set. I get the appeal but it's not for me. Pyrrhon was awesome or the 3 songs I saw and Ulcerate were fucking killer.

Yeah, SP was mostly just goofy as hell. Dude's a good guitar player though - I did notice he played without a pick.
