Isn't it crazy when "separating the art from the artist" is used it's used in defense of an incredibly problematic person. It's a fan's last desperate defense to shield their idol from criticism. And the reasoning is also completely stupid in this context; ya know, where the guy has created an entire album based off his lived experience as a piece of shit.

People only do this when it's convenient to them, i.e. when they agree with the artist's politics or don't want to do the self reflection involved in coming to the conclusion they probably shouldn't support an artist anymore.
