1.People who can’t separate art from artist and try to holier than thou against the people who can is beta cuck soy boy behavior. 5/5
2. Last I checked MM hasn’t been found guilty of any crime. 2/5
3.Also last I checked allegations don’t always paint a full picture, and sometimes there are motives in bringing such allegations which aren’t 100% pure and/or lack a whole other side to a story. 4/5
4. Not claiming to know the circumstances of any of MM’s stuff, and I’m not here to defend (or attack him). 5/5
5. But at least get off other’s backs about it. 5/5
6. If you can’t abstain from listening to him without making sure everyone else knows where you stand, then your character is the one I’m questioning tbh 4/5
Overall I’m a leftist you absolute dipshit. Just because somebody has a perspective on a story in pop culture that you disagree with, doesn’t mean they hold a certain political point of view 5/5

"i fucking hate music i'm in the wrong place guys"
On the contrary.
You've never been in a more perfect place.

"Separate the art from the artist" when the art is literally about how the artist is the victim all the time
|
| |
I can separate the art from the artist if the art is actually worth it, and nothing from a 55-year-old Manson is going to meet that criteria. we aren't exactly talking about prime Brand New here.

Biohazard - State of the World Address is so underrated tbh

Isn't it crazy when "separating the art from the artist" is used it's used in defense of an incredibly problematic person. It's a fan's last desperate defense to shield their idol from criticism. And the reasoning is also completely stupid in this context; ya know, where the guy has created an entire album based off his lived experience as a piece of shit.
|
| |
People only do this when it's convenient to them, i.e. when they agree with the artist's politics or don't want to do the self reflection involved in coming to the conclusion they probably shouldn't support an artist anymore.

Also because they lack the balls to change their opinion about something like some sunk cost fallacy bullshit. Like, no, Brian doesn't give a shit if you hold the line in his defense. You're not saving face by moving goalposts to justify your love for some shitty musician and you're definitely not changing minds by flat out dismissing sexual assault. The amount of glazing folks do over bad people is enough to turn this place into a fucking Krispy Kreme.

It’s up to the listeners experience with the music.
I’m sure 99% of people don’t have to think of kiddie fiddling every time Michael Jackson plays on the radio.
If you don’t think about rape when you listen to this stuff then go for it. I’m sure enough people will be offended that the trajectory of MM’s career will continue heading downwards irrespective of some fans who have good associations with his music.
He’s not winning a Grammy anytime soon.

Obviously if they start condoning or glorifying his behaviour then that's when things get suspect.
Still liking the music or having good memories associated with the music? So what.
