the combination of such overtly obtuse lyrics and memey delivery doesn't feel like it's meant to be taken seriously at all. my brain just can't compute that anyone would seriously do that, listen back to it and think "yeah this is ok let's release this"

I will admit I can't speak to the actual specific intentions of the lyricist but you have to be aware of the weight that certain issues carry and formulate your sentiments on them with at least an ounce of tact... "some people are homeless but I'm not AHHHHHHHH" just feels insulting

I don't get how you can't get the intention of the song. They're pretty direct and calling them obtuse is just stupid. Not sure how you qualify "meme" delivery but he also doesn't say "some people are homeless but I'm not"

"he also doesn't say "some people are homeless but I'm not""

obviously I'm paraphrasing but that's literally the core sentiment of the song and is repeated multiple times

It'd be like if you listened to "Prison Song" by SoaD and think "this is a serious issue, I don't get why they're making fun of it". The point of the song is to draw attention to it, homelessness is still a problem with over 600k Americans still being homeless that have little or no access to help. Shelters exist but i can think of a recent news article where a shelter was denied permits to being built because it was too close to a school and parents found it too offputting. Theyre dehumanized. Things like the scabies line touch on what homeless people go through which ironically cost us more to treat than if they had adequate housing.

Do you think Alexis listens to this album and thinks “damn all I had to do was not be a massive hot dog casing of human scum”?

No way daughters isn't a dead band at this point and if they ever try to come back I doubt they'll be welcomed as warmly. So it's probably good these guys get to eat their lunch now with whatever crossover there is which I don't think is insignificant.

Homie the amount of double negatives in that small paragraph has my brain spinning, but I think what you’re saying is that we are on the same page here
