Agreed. It's gotten to the point where the opening riff makes me grimace. Least enjoyable song on the record at this point JUST because it's been played to death.

for me it's strong enough to withstand it, it's not like a chelsea dagger or take me out thing where I feel myself cringing if I hear it in public

also on top is also an underrated banger

smile like you mean it is the best killers song too

I think I'd call Jenny and On Top my two favorites at this point. still like Mr. Brightside quite a bit despite how insanely overplayed it's been

glad I eventually came around to the second half of this. I used to agree with the consensus that it's super front-loaded

I'm glad to see that get dismantled over time. First half has all the hit singles everyone knows, so of course is seems to disproportionately edge out the second. It's got just as many good cuts though.

On Top is one of my least faves here, "Smile Like You Mean It" is sick but "Midnight Show" is most underrated imo

Agreed hard, Midnight Show is top 5 here. That plus the closer puts in some shots for the second half, but that opening run is where it's at bois

Opening run still the best, but second half isn't as far behind as has been said.

i know flowers wasn't fond of the vocal production on this one, but honestly it makes it so much more bearable lmao

Vocals are so much more restrained and laid-back here than on their later stuff

It smacks with the music tho, but I might be biased because his vocal performance on "Midnight Show" is more energetic than anything they've released since

Then again his vocals are really good on Sam's Town

Yeah it's less about production here for me and more of Flowers actually limiting himself. He's a good singer when he doesn't do his darndest to remind you in every note he belts out.
