I think at this point, their discog is better than suffocation's but effigy is better than anything these guys have done. But psalms and chapters are close
|
| |
I'll level with you and say Effigy is better than at least 3 of their albums
|

>Nah these guys are better than Suffo
now u have me intrigued
in what way?
|
| |
Never actively thought about 'why' but I'ma say they dialled up the intensity, retained the non-linear song structures while adding the fusion elements and did it in a way that didn't come off as eclectic-for-the-sake-of-it.
Most importantly their songs still contain discernible peaks, troughs and progressions which can't be said for a lot of bands that take the combination of tech and brutality as far as DS do. No disrespect to Suffo obviously they'll always be among the greats, but I've preferred these guys for quite a while.

yeah park youll dig this band but dont let anyone fool you that this is somehow better than suffocation.
the imitation is almost never better than the original, and pierced simply just cant be topped at this point.
i will say tho that this really is the only band that scratches the same itch suffo does.
|
| |
it's too different to be an imitation and they are better

idk i love both, i just think that what suffocation did in the 90's essentially laid the entire groundwork for bands like this to build from. i think it's fairly inarguable that suffocation is responsible for essentially creating the subgenre of brutal death metal.
even the guys in the scene will tell you that suffo is everything.
