There’s something to the metal thing. I like this album lots but I have a feeling this is less wowwy wow wow to people well versed in post and doom metal.

The real stretch is the one with In the Den in the middle.

“I have a feeling this is less wowwy wow wow to people well versed in post and doom metal.“

Probably feels that way if you don’t have much post/doom familiarity, but this really doesn’t sound directly like much in the scene, tonally or texturally. It’s slower and heavier than older Hum records, but every bit as ethereal, and it still sounds closer to their history than most anything traditionally associated with “post metal”.

closest thing to post-metal it sounds like is Panopticon production-wise

Matt still sounds SO resigned in his lyrics and I bet he's married with children, already.

@loveis: I enjoyed it but not as much as those other album. This reminds me a lot of Lantlos - Melting Sun which like this many people love but for me is just a decent 3/5.

Wow this is such a grower, I wasn't that sure about it after the first listen but it caught me since then. Ending of the album in particular is such a charming part.

Desert rambler sounds like an ode to failure/kyuss.. could have been written by either one of those bands.

This album is just phenomenal
