was reading an interview recently with the drummer and he mentioned how he thought damage was a very solid record and dont understand why the reception was so poor. I honestly love that album, and have to listen to it again now that ive head surviving to see how it stacks up

Damage is their weakest bar the debut and it's still a strong 4.

Damage doesn’t have the best songs, but the production is fantastic. I think I read somewhere that they recorded to tape which is why it sounds so warm.
Back on topic though, this album surprised the hell out of me and I might even need to pick it up on vinyl.

Bleed American was my first JEW record, so it will always be my favorite. That one and Futures are definitely the top 2 in their discog for me. I've never been able to get into Clarity.

maybe i'm starting to outgrow this kinda stuff but this just bored me. the poppier tracks were kind of annoying. don't see why this is getting so much praise.

Clarity is 4th for me, it's great but not the life changer that some people claim. It's well below Futures, Bleed American, and Integrity Blues.

Clarity appeals to a different audience than the rest of the JEW discog, it's for 90's emo fans who are into Sunny Day Real Estate, American Football etc.
That's why you'll find people who only love Clarity *raises hand*
They leaned into pop punk Bleed American onwards

I don't agree with that. Static Prevails, sure, but Clarity is pretty clean for the most part and fits in well with the rest of the discog

this album is just staggeringly consistent. One Mil might be the 'worst' track here and it's still like a 3.5. The hooks are just massive. Definitely a 4, might sneak its way into 4.5 territory. I didn't love All the Way the first time around but now it just feels like an essential Jimmy track.

"My appreciation for this started on the higher side, then dipped across listens 3-5, then skyrocketed even higher than my initial impression"
the same thing is happening to me, haha. glad "Love Never" has grown on you, Sowing! I can't get enough of this album and might have to bump my score back up. feels like it could have come out between Bleed American and Futures

555 is so damn catchy. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I can’t deny the hook.

For me the order would be
Futures
Bleed American
Clarity
Integrity Blues
Surviving
Chase This Light
Static Prevails
Damage
Invented
I don't understand the love people have for Invented and I've listened to that album many times when it initially came out. I've never listened to it since then and never felt the need to.
Seeing how high some people rank it, has piqued my curiosity.

I admittedly haven’t listened to all of their albums, but for me:
