I'm baffled by all 3 singles. Perfect evolution for the band, smells like AOTY

In Blur is lovely. These guys are getting so much hate for their new stuff and I don't get it.
Then again, they always attracted haters for whatever reason. Probably bc they're all clean cut guys who played "black metal" and it offended the corpse paint wearing dweebs who cut themselves in their mom's basement all day

Yeah I really like the new direction too, am hoping the new album will be near Sunbather level. We'll see.

I appreciate this new direction, but I am concerned that by completely removing the heavier aspects of their sound the music will be less dynamic overall. The dichotomy of George screaming his lungs out over prettier sounding black metal is what made a lot of people attracted to the band in the first place so I'm rather understanding of older fans bristling a bit.
OCHL was still 90/10% screaming to singing despite the experimental instrumentation. They didn't bother to go 50/50 on this album. It sounds like it'll be 90/10 singing to screaming now - which is a big, big leap and ask for fans in my opinion.
I think I'll like the new album, but there will be a part of me that hopes they embrace both sides of the sound again in future, more balanced releases.

Lolz agreed, me personally loved everything they have done till this point, this change of sound was pretty much expected tho but still not my thing, i loved them for that blend of intense black with shoegaze, they are a completely different band now

The new single, In Blur, just came on and I thought it was modern day AFI.
Excited to hear the album in full.

Genuinely think the new single is stunning, and Great Mass is even better. Gnawing is decent. Bring on the album
