to ur point this really does feel like another tlop minus all the clutter and wildness
which is good in some respects but.. kinda disappointing at the same time

TCD definitely outpunches LR for me song for song but both are at the top. Then MBDTF I guess. I’d place this a bit below Graduation maybe. Once-conventional wisdom is right though and 808s is the worst, sorry

"Chuck, I can accept you like this "
wow thank god
"but the idea you can't see that this might be a very tough sell musically to many...?"
3 of the top 10 songs streamed on spotify this week were on this album, itll debut #1 on the billboard top albums, so who is this "many" you speak of exactly
"I don't think people aren't liking this due to peer pressure/edgy points at all"
could you be less self aware holy fuck man

lr and tcd are great but i think ye is consistent enough that the filler alone drops them both to near the bottom of my ranking
graduation was kind of the culmination / peak of early kanyes sound imo, straight bangers, great production, no filler, conscious pop sensibility, its my #2 after yeezus

Yeezus is really cool but I don’t like three or four of the songs. Been revisiting “bound 2” lately though and that song is better than ever to me

idk how in fuck i went from liking 3 or 4 songs off yeezus (yknow the same 3 or 4 everyfuckbody likes off yeezus) to loving p much everything on it

common experience tbh, on the surface its a loud abrasive album by an angry black dude, under the surface its a brilliantly produced album with lots of layers to sift through

I remember I saw him debut some of the stuff at Gov Ball and thought “this is wack/this is not what I want to hear from Kanye” and as awesome a 180 as the album remains, so too does that initial feeling...but it’s a good album and I’m glad it’s there too
|
| |
I had a weird experience with yeezus where I insta 5'd it and when I returned possibly months later it was like a 3 then I went down to a 2.5 and then 3 again (all without listening) and then returned to it yesterday and 4d it

LR feels like his most professional approach. It’s at least the most fun to me, def not the most profound or whatever but Kanye’s good at being fun

If this all sounded like ‘All Mine’ I’d 4 it

College dropout
Yeezus
Pablo
Late registration
Mbdtf
Graduation = 808s
This
This is his weakest by a considerable margin imo. The only Kanye album I have rated under 4

Every album of his has at least 2 or 3 damn good songs, but this is his first to feature none. Maybe "no mistakes", but that's probably because it's like old Kanye, almost instantly nostalgic.
No one ever talks about Graduation but it has my favourite Kanye song, "Everything I Am"
