--interview about pitfalls--
It's telling how much the new album is about the vocalist. The first song is super vocal-driven with lots of keyboards (which he also does). The video features only the vocalist until almost half way through. The interview has the slip where he tries to say "We decided..." and the other guy corrects him and says "You decided. We were informed..." -- It basically should set your expectations for the album. It's not bad, but it really is the vocalist's show featuring mainly him and his musical contributions.

I mean, Malina and The Congregation are my favorite albums of theirs. But I hope for some nice instrumental parts as well

Yeah, that was really obvious, but I feel like Leprous has always been 'Einar's band', and now, with this more simplistic approach, it really starts to show.

I wouldn't say 'always'. Going through the wiki album pages, the band was way more involved in the beginning but each release has less and less credit given to other members.

Yes, which is why I'm not vibing with the new track at all. Leprous are at their best when each band member is doing something cool and are not just there as Einar's backing band.

The first track released from the upcoming album is one of the most band-oriented tracks on the album. I do have to stress that the new album is good, just way different and way less of the band at the forefront.

Yes, if it's going to be vocal-centric, then I definitely won't appreciate it. Sorry not sorry ):
I want cool basslines, cool guitar chords, cool keyboard sounds.

Malina already had its fair share of instrumental banality here and there, but the new tracks are taking it to a whole new level. Einar's melodramatic vocals have always been what's keeping me from truly enjoying the music, but every album has its great moment so I'll probably give it a spin anyway.

Yea, I dig his vocals. But it ain't Leprous without great instrumentation. I can't see me digging it too much if every song is like the single they just put out.

Exactly, Cosmic Pie. Malina has its fair share of delish instrumentation, and I hope the new album will do too.

Idk, Einar seems to really enjoy the melodrama. I hope he isn't trying to turn the band into a rock opera. Hopefully they all have equal say.

I'm guessing it's 80% Einar, 20% Tor and Baard

I'd be guessing too. They even said at the facebook post that he wrote it talking about his depression.
It's no secret though that for last 5 years it was Einar taking on songwriting duties with the rest of the band being happy about it

The rest of the members have so much skill. I'd hate to see him dilute that for a therapy session.
