Whilst it was a better second listen, I still take and issue with the album's consistency. Hard Feeling overshadow's most of the album. (with Homemade Dynamite coming close)

Don't really get the megahype or hate here; it's just a fairly well-crafted breakup album with the occasional lyrical flourish and a smattering of pop hooks.

yeah agreed.
and it is fairly well crafted, but thats the issue, its well crafted in the most boring way, well crafted in the safest most straightforward sense. its very generic in its form.
and the occasional lyrical flourish just serves to illuminate how utterly bland most of the lyrics are.

Idk about mediocre, but if you're not a fan of Lorde as a lyrical persona or this style of music full stop then I guess don't waste your time haha

One the one hand, I kinda get this, but to me, part of its appeal is that she manages to fit her voice to very inflexible modes of songwriting. I've got a lot of respect for artists who manage to sound themselves from within a template, and I think she does a decent job here.

Fuck... I usually agree with Sowing on everything.
Eyy Sowing, would I enjoy this if I gave Pure Heroin a 3?
