In fact while it could just be due to overexposure I'd hazard this has been the worst year of the entire decade for me, the only rival would be 2012 - and it's particularly disappointing given just how many of my favorite artists released albums this year.

2012 was a lot worse than this.

Have you spun the Micah P. Hinson yet because that’s my fave alt country of the year?

Plus obviously I love the Aimee Mann but that might just be me.

2010, 2013, 2016, and 2017 are the best years for music this decade imo

2012 and 2014 were particularly weak. 2010 and 2015 were decent for me.

2012 might be the worst year for music releases since...the Second World War?

Yeah actually 2012 was definitely worse than this year.

My AOTY was...Grizzly Bear ‘Shields’

Would only be top 25 material this year...I mean the new Grizzly Bear is about equally good

My top for that year is probably Lonerism which honestly I don't even like all that much anymore.

2012 had The Seer and Lonerism, and tons of solid stuff, but all the years since were probably better.

True that 2015 was a fantastic year too.

On my RYM account my current AOTY for any given year gets awarded a 5/5 from me...that one hurts the most.

The rule is an incentive to push me to find better AOTY candidates for weak years...I’ve drawn a blank for 2012. There’s something out there though...

2011 seems to have the highest concentration of high ratings for me but the best albums of 2013 and 2015 were much better overall.

2013 probably takes the cake as best of the decade for me for having 3 5s

yeah 2012 blew

personally loved the best of 2013 and 2014 more, but there's been more generally good stuff the last three years imo

though that also probably reflects my listening habits more than anything

the only year that sucked this decade was 2014. quite pitiful if you look at the top albums charts

2011 was the weakest year for me, few classics if any. 2012 and 2014 were solid, and the rest of the years are excellent tbh

True. I noticed like all my favorite bands that released a record in 2013 made their softest, most subtle one to date.
