Yeah, we're sucking Ulver's dick in here. Don't ruin the vibes.

0% depeche mode anything going on here. this is far from the musical style that band has ever done. i suggest people check out front line assembly after jamming this. closest thing i can think of from another band that is perhaps slightly similar to this, but overall the atmosphere here can be compared to perdition city if anything, maybe war of the roses a little

Haha yeah the DM comparisons are very puzzling

This is the best thing they have done since Shadows of the Sun. I highly enjoyed the Messe album, but Ulver over the last decade has not been that interesting to me. I love all the Silencing EP's as well as the earlier black/folk stuff, and followed them on their journey during many of the drastic changes.
People need to stop assuming this is hype. Sure, they have way more recognition now than they did while I was regularly following them a decade ago, but as an old school Ulver fan, holy shit. Rolling Stone is definitely my song of the year, shall see about the rest of the album.

"People need to stop assuming this is hype."
Maybe if you stopped hyping this to a ridiculous and underserved level.
