Human romance, s/t, and eternal return are probably their worst.

Don't even touch the s/t. It's just a steaming pile of shit. Human Romance and Eternal Return both have moments here and there that are just killer (The Tides being a perfect example) but are definitely not must-listens as a whole.

Eternal return ain't bad but I wouldn't say it surpasses stuff like this. Honestly might need to listen to it again. It's been at least 5 years for me since I properly jammed.

s/t gets too much hate. granted it's understandable but there are some damn good songs on it.

Honestly if you're more open to a more mainstream metalcore sound then you'll probably like it fine. If not, well you'll probably hate it. It's definitely different compared to just about everything else this band has done.

Cool, will try a few more of suggested albums and then I think I will have my fill of this band.

These guys have kind of been my stepping stone for getting into more melodic death metal bands. The only other ones I had for a long time before this and Deliver Us were a few 90s In Flames and a couple Insomnium albums.

I haven't listened to melodeath since high school but I can think of several killer bands if you're looking to delve into the genre. Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, Black Dahlia Murder, Carcass, Darkane, Soilwork. Actually, this list is great -

I do have Slaughter of the Soul (AtG) and Nocturnal/Nightbringers from Black Dahlia.

I also started getting into some Death albums, so I guess just mean death metal in general. I have found I really like melodeath/death metal mixed with a thrashy side, like Black Dahlia, this, and Death.

I will check that list and see if anything sounds appealing. Thanks!

this is kinda wearing off on me. the increased hardcore/metalcore elements just don't vibe with me as much as their melodeathy stuff. it's nowhere near Hidden Hands or Deliver Us.

I mean it's far from their best album for sure, and I do understand why people don't like it. But I certainly enjoyed it for what it was regardless.

The ending of Beneath it Sleeps is an absolute unit. Love the build up with the lyrics and just the abrupt cut off are so good.
