agreed. it's why history is so important. it's also challenging to judge the world in front of us today with the centuries of complexities behind us. how far back do we go? if we judge every country by how they came to be and border lines drawn, we may have no friends at all. and there is obviously some oversimplification in simply stating "Western democracies are better". at face value, it's true. much of the rest of the world needs to catch up. we've progressed. it's a good thing

religion at the end of the day is a system of thought, the millennias beyond us had solidifed the different systems at different points of human history. these systems and the people are always amenable to change, it’s just always subject to which winds of change occur. if we bomb countries and societies into regression then no wonder they’ll end up hating the aggressors and stick with what they think will work to persevere even if it’s with outdated modes of thought.

Most religions in general are ass. Organized religions always turn into world-domineering money rackets. I grew up Pentecostal and Seventh-Day Adventist so I'm fully aware of how culty and shitty Christianity is and it still pisses me off if I think to much about it. The other two Abrahamic religions' fundies are just as shitty and annoying, and pretty much every other organized religion too I'm sure. It's especially dogshit when it's mixed with nationalism like in the USA, Israel, India, etcetcetcetc.
