And Death Magnetic > this generally (2)

This is growing on me actually. Spit it to the bone and the singles are great. The rest is meh to decent.

DM is easily worse than this for me.

Spit out the bone is awful, not sure what everyone's lauding it for...like a sloppy b side from ajfa era that should've been *discarded* in 88 (and ye it pains me to say that)

fk left out a crucial word lol. The track just seems haphazardly spliced together will little thought, unlike the stuff on AJFA it doesn't crescendo or climax it just sort of wanders aimlessly through disjointed sections until it reaches that sweet 7 minute mark. That's my2 cents on it anyway

I have to agree that their song structures got real messy and directionless, even more on death magnetic than here. that's actually my biggest complaint with their new stuff, unnecessarily long songs which consist of standard repeating of main riff/verse/prechorus/chorus with too many disjointed sections somewhere in the middle. but like I said, I think the songwriting here is a bit tighter than on dm, still problematic tho yea. just realized that although this is their only double album, it's actually the same length as their previous 4 LPs, ffs.

like that "breakdown" section at about 5 min mark in Spit Out The Bone. not just that the riffs themselves are pretty meh, but the song would actually flow much better without them.

i'd like to believe that it was released as 2 discs because it's easier to access that way.....not in a mood for the first half? just pop in disc 2 or vice versa.....easier to digest and way more manageable.....i do the same thing with mellon collie, and it works, as a listening experience

and i actually enjoy that part of spit spirit bro....sounds great loud

no no, 2 discs are totally fine, it just got to my head how ridiculous it is that Load, Reload, St. Anger and DM are all like hour and 15 minutes long, ugh

Might bump this one, been jamming it a lot recently. Some great cuts to be found on here. Like this more than DM yet; titan?

right on, and those would've worked better as double discs as well......actually, those would've worked better if 25 minutes were cut out completely from each one

yeah jeff, i am enjoying this one more than DM at the moment....still new though.....i even find myself listening to the 3rd disc too

James sound a lot better on here than DM.. which makes it more catchy for me.. that reason alone I might like it more.

Production is way better too. Once again drums feel a little high in the mix (surprise, surprise), but DM was kinda awful in terms of production

Yup! That too, that's really what's holding DM back.

Yeah, DM has some of the worst production i've ever heard. It's still pretty good though.
