I think all three albums have felt very different from each other. aura used tin whistle to carry the melodic leads, while guardians was violin-heavy, for instance. the vocals are mixed quite differently too, and the three drummers have been easy to differentiate.
i mean yeah, there are anecdotal changes between records but the instrumentation always go for exactly the same goal, exactly the same emotional peak. this is why i feel they're entirely interchangeable because where it counts it feels the same to me. this album really felt like 'been there, done that' after aura and this new record feels even more tired, even neige couldn't pick it back up again.

Based on the few tracks I've heard Forgotten Paths is essentially a blander continuation of this albeit with less memorable melodies.

...aaaand spinning again. I really enjoy the expanded palette here, with piano and more clean vocals.

i hated it ]:

Do you hate it as a standalone album or when comparing it to the previous Saor albums?

both
i found the transitions between sections awkward in part due to the really boring drumming (like for real dude, try a drum fill from time to time?), the riffs a bit bland and repetitious and when the strings and whistles come in they oversaturate the palatte and become really saccharine and overbearing. it feels like textural padding rather than adding any real melody, especially in the title track. the melody neige was singing was fine in and of itself - he didn't have to overload it with a grating, repetitive whistle melody that drowns it out.
the exception is the second track which is easily the best and could have been placed on this album, but it really isn't enough when you consider it's an album without much meat on it.

oh wow, interesting, thanks for the insight. I'm hesitant to listen to it

I'm going to
put my thoughts in a coherently-written review
instead of just hard negging everything Noctus said
except for the part about the drum fills
