@Deezer666 I'm sorry you couldn't find enjoyment in this one. I've listened to Korn's first record when it came out as well and still enjoy it to this day. I've been following their career for a long time now. I thought Jonathan Davis sounded in top-form here. It's one thing to dislike a band, but to say your too masculine for them now is pretty childish in itself especially for us 17 year olds to have to hear.

Head is the only redeemable thing about this album.

The lyrics are more or less the same style. What is he supposed to sing about? He does what he's always done and sticks to his guns. That's one critism with Korn I've never fully understood. I've noticed people only give that critism when they dislike a band. I could pick apart a 10th of bands people listen to and find something cheesy about the lyrics. Odds are if you like the music enough it wouldn't even be brought up;albeit less. The way he writes his lyrics they're always backed up by his vocal delivery and it's convincing enough to me on here. What else could one ask for?

Define voices for people over 17 because you sound like a moron.'

Obviously there is no definition. Im just playing. But the whole aesthetic and feeling of this band is childish af to me. Clowns and dolls and Davis' fake whiny crying and shit. There was a time and place for it FOR ME but it got old pretty much on the 2nd record. Dont get me wrong I think its great theres still a market for angsty teens with nail polish and 40 years olds with purple hair and chain wallets who hate their fathers.

I do think an album like Peachy or FtL and many of their later albums really do sound incredibly childish, but imo the s/t and to some extent Issues are rather dark. Of course, both aren't without their cheesy moments, but the overall mood of both albums is one of genuine dreariness and mental oppression.
Sure, it's angsty...but let's not pretend a "real metalhead"-approved band like for instance Saint Vitus isn't.

Yeah that a point Thal re 'angst' And the first abum is definitely a 'dark'record Again ,when that record came out people lost there minds. Ill always remember the small ass shows they played around then. It was crazy. We actually went out with the guys when they toured here. They were all really great guys. JD especially. But Ive seen them at festivals a bunch of times over the years (only parts of the sets) and found his vox hilariously weak. The 'uniqueness' is the only redeeming feature for me and that doesnt suddenly make it good. I suppose they fit the whole feel and whole aesthetic of the band though.

I think JD's vox got weaker and whinier over the years. On the first album I think his voice did have some grit to it. I still really like the first album a lot, especially because of the grimy and muddy feel. I think it's a day and night difference from for instance FtL. I see that FtL gets a decent amount of love and that's fine, I mean to each their own, but personally I can't stand that album.
I actually met JD and Fieldy once as well while doing security work at a metal fest. They were genuinely nice.

His voice is pretty decent on this, but I know what you mean. The lyrics are not good here though, so corny at times.

what I'm about to say might be the dumbest shit, but does anyone else feel it's becoming somewhat of a trend to dislike Korn? I know some people genuinely hate them, I'm embarrassed sometimes to admit I used to love them, but idk, anyone have any thoughts on this?

It's not just Korn, nu-metal in general is like Deathcore and melodic Metalcore in that the 'general consensus' seems to be that there's a lot of trash in those sub-genres and they cop a lot of flack. Personally I don't really care and and mostly judge everything on its own merit though I'm a bit guilty of dismissing melodic metalcore, so I can understand why people feel the way they do about nu metal and by extention Korn.

To be honest I've being seeing that trend subsiding lately and people seem way more open to stuff in general, I mean the reception for this album even by those who are highly suspicious of it has been pretty mature and curious so that's a plus, not just a bunch of people judging it without listening and page after page of 'band is shit' etc.
