Ecailles will always be my favorite Alcest and blackgaze album, but this is probably their next best.

Help me enjoy Onyx. I can't help but find it unnecessary.
Besides that (and the bonus track), great album.

I prefer listening to the deluxe version with the bonus track because onyx doesn't feel like a satisfying way to close the album

I read that this was inspired from Princess Mononoke, which makes a lot sense reading the lyrics and the artwork. Makes the album even more amazing. Edit: I saw no mention of Mononoke at all but ok.

This was mentioned earlier in this thread. It's almost like you don't read every page before posting, but surely that can't be right.

The two ending instrumentals are kinda disappointing though, nothing much going on. Hence my rating.

That's fair. I actually like Onyx now. The bonus track is pretty good too, but could be trimmed down a little, imo.

why include bonus tracks in the rating though

Never really thought of that. Got the deluxe version and it is included, so... yeah. I don't know. I'd 5 it without it though.

IMO Onyx is the actual, and better, closer. It does a great job of wrapping up the album. The bonus track isn't fleshed out enough to be a proper closer, even though as a standalone track it's very enjoyable.
