I've waited too long to continue the Act's. This is incredible. Definitely rivals Act II for best Dear Hunter album I've heard so far. I might be obsessed with this for a while before even hearing V haha.

I haven't spent enough time with The Dear Hunter. I've listened to all the acts and enjoyed them but never really dug in.

Finally found time to listen to it.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. People were scaring me that it is so much different from act II, they changed sound blahblah its so soft compared to it.

Needlessly.

The sound is softer and a little slower, I can agree on that. But in it's core it's still the same band with the same mastermind behind it and wonderful vocals. Songs are more subtle and story gets a little riddiculous (I get that he was looking very similiar to his brother, but really? Nobody has noticed?), but that's fine.

Favourite songs? Old Haunt is just.. good? Not outstanding but really enjoyable. At the End of the Earth is as Pink Floydy as it can get, in a good sense. Ending of Night on the Town hits the right stuff inside me because of references to best songs from previous albums. And...

At this point of writing down I've noticed I won't be able to continue this list as every song has something unique and good in it. Still, behemoth of a song that is Bitter Suite IV&V rules my heart here. Oh yeah, and Wait is amazing too, not too much proggy though.

Starting act V now and slowly feeling it too already. Casey Crescenzo, you're stealing my heart. If it goes like this I'll abandon progmetal for progrock completely.

How can you call The Old Haunt merely good

I mean, it's really good. But it's not something risky, different or proggresive. It's quite simple and well made good song.

I'm really digging At the End of the Earth a lot now. What a sweet earworm. Especially that Floydy ending.
