Second half is losing its luster for me.

Y'all are underselling the subtle beauty of the t/t just because it isn't another Funeral. The way it bookends all the album's themes in a totally understated fashion is spectacular

I know but the t/t is just as good a closer as Funeral is with the complete opposite execution and it rules omg guise

Crossed the line. t/t is very good, but doesn't even touch the quality of Funeral. Oh, btw second half is really awesome tbh. Stained Glass, January and Ernest are up there with Cigs and Cardinals.

I'm talking about its quality as a tie-off to the thematic story of the album and the way it touches on all the concepts that have been raised in such a spectacular way. It's easily on par with Funeral in that respect even if it's not nearly as good of a song

Not as many engaging or moving songs as TGG, but this is pretty sweet.

it just sounds so... typical? nothing sticks out at all and remembering what I just listened to is hard. not to mention that the mixing on this downplays Soupy's vocals and a lot of the percussion so it's even less catchy.

No problem with the mix, though TGG was definitely a bit crisper. Nothing largely original about this but this is indeed very enjoyable for me nonetheless.

maybe I got a bad copy or something, because everything sounds subdued for me... hmmm...

The refrain in the pre-choruses of You In January are perfect though

Cardinals, Cigs and Saints, Thanks for the Ride, I wanted so Badly to be Brave, You In Janurary, and the alternate version of Palm Reader are probably the only tracks on this I actually like.
