Snow is cool. The bassline is really pretty and fun to play.
Turn it Again is by far the best guitar work on the album. The end of Mars is all really cool, bar We Believe. And Hey is really cool, too.

The reason I don't like "Charlie" is because the verses just really piss me off. The whole beat annoys me. The way Keidis sings annoys me. Then, the background vocals come in and it sounds even more annoying to me. It's gotta be one of my least favorite song on the album. I do like the rest of the song, but the verses just take too much out of the song for me.

i find slow cheetah the best of the mellow acoustic stuff, that wierd bit at the end with all the backwards guitar is pretty cool.

How can anyone not like this album? It's better than any other crap out there today! Be honest it is really a good effort from the Peppers!

If anyone is looking for more of "Da funk" check out "what hits?!" Very good stuff on there not as technical as BSSM not as raw as their debut album although it does contain tracks from both of these albums. but it is still very Funky.

Hey look. Another RHCP album about California.. Plus everyone knows the single is a rip off from Tom Petty.. we have all heard it.

thanks to ent. for an excellent review.
i got the album a couple of days ago (slow aint i), and have listend a few times so far.
like most things i'll need to listen for a few weeks for it to grow on me (it took 4 years for that to happen with a levellers album - hello pig)
i have quite a varied taste in music from punk to folk to metal, but something that impresses me most, having most of the rhcp albums, is that they can manage to always come up with an original tune (or in this case 28) and have something to catch most people.
'tis a great step up from by the way which i found to be lacking something.
lets just hope this album doesnt get played to death like most do these days
cheers
chris

Yeah, it's a pretty swingin' song. But I'm liking "Snow" the best right now.

it sucks they weren't allowed to include the rap groups they filmed (grandmaster flash, public enemy) or zeppelin for the video though

Why werent they allowed to include those in the video? i love readymade, snow, and she's only 18 the best.

I think Zeppelin (and KISS as well) because of licensing, the rap groups were left out i read because the decision was made (by the band or others) that they didnt fit in. Id like to see what the storm in a teacup video looks like!
