His street drumming videos from when he was like 9 years old or something are impressive

street drumming was when he was almost an adult actually. And the video of him playing Dance of Eternity was when he was 11 I believe.

He's a prodigy. His skill level is off the charts, but it's his creativity that's his biggest asset. Like all my favourite drummers

Baard is indeed an amazing drummer. Words fall short for how talented the guy is

if you feel like its 4.3 then 4.5 is closer, isnt it.

For me its more like 9.6, 9.7 /10 since it's not totally perfect. Actually not a fan of third law. Overall tho, brilliant stuff

Eh, it’s a fun record with some cool bits, but it’s definitely doesn’t command attention the way something like Bilateral do

Comparing most albums to Bilateral is a bit unfair

But this thing has grown on me tremendously over time....

Fair play. TPS is also >

And honestly, Pitfalls too. Even more stripped back but feels like it covers more ground and finds more nuance between the tracks.

More than this? That I won't agree with. I can appreciate what they were going for, emotional depth blah blah, but a lot of the songs don't feel fully fleshed out

I think as a style exploration, it takes prog into a more diverse yet minimalist path, while this has a maximalist approach. the same way their cut-up riffing can be based on just one note, but the thought of playing like this is innovative.
