i thought it was called progressive rock/metal/anything because all songs on a album seems to progress through it developing a "story" or a "concept".

but IDM is a really funny name

No it was called progressive rock because it was seen to progress the genre of rock giving it more artistic weight. If you look at the early stages of the genre, stories and concepts weren't really that big a part of if, the development of it centred more around to the incorporation of different genres, musical styles and structures.

its like how is this band so slept on

people into some of the more popular indie pop stuff would likely adore sweet trip, especially You Will Never Know. Plus they do it better than like nearly every one of those indie pop bands

the band wasn't in it for the fame, they were in it for the quality jams

even if a bit complacent or maybe even ~quaint~ when they went the ywnky route

note: also anyone else notice how funky that album occasionally gets? it always catches me off guard somehow.

not at all, would have rather them went in the direction they did then go towards more IDM

even though on this record, they absolutely perfected everything they tried

i honestly believe this is a shoegaze record, and I honestly believe its better than loveless

yeah I think initially I would have definitely preferred an idm approach.

but I just cannot argue with ywnky. no complaints from me at all.
