The entirety of Bored in The USA, and I don't care if it's ironic, it's still fucking annoying. I don't think his music is good enough to justify his massive ego.

What you have to realize, and what I really enjoy about this, is that the whole thing is dripping in layers of satire and irony. He's playing a character here, so your comment about his ego is questionable (is he really this egotistical? Is he making fun of himself and his generation with that? Etc. etc.), but he's also describing his own life to an extent as well as the lives of his generation, and beneath all that irony there is a lot of genuine emotion. On top of that, I think the intrumentals are really beautiful and well-crafted, so I enjoy this album on that level as well.

This certainly isn't for everybody though, it's pretty polarizing and I've mostly given up trying to convince those who dislike this that it's good and instead have just chocked it up to individual preference (as everything eventually falls back to).

I understand that it's irony/satire, but I just don't find it enjoyable. It's not awful or anything, it's just not my thing. I really think more varied music would help a ton. He definitely has a great singing voice. I personally just found it dull.

That's fair enough, I think there are some pretty nice arrangements here and that Father John is a super interesting guy.

It's hard to know sometimes what is genuine and what is irony here and that I think is a major selling point

like he's quite possibly the most easily dislikable (as a person) musician of the decade (as long as u dont count the scenecore rapist pedophile niche)

I really haven't read or know much about him as a person. My opinion is almost solely from his music/things I see about him on Reddit.

Huh, considering one of the related artists mentioned was Band of Horses, which I do not like, I'm not very optimistic about them. Oh well, if they do indeed release an album this year, maybe I'll check it out.

Yeah, I can like some indie-folk ,which appears to be what they are, but it's gotta be really good for me to bother with.
