i spoke to jake about this and they are using pitch correction - the audio engineer who did this album had never really done an album quite like this one and because of that there are some unusual choices, that being one of them. it wasn't at all necessary because jake is a fantastic singer but it's one of those interesting choices that makes the album feel unique, in retrospect. it's less to correct bad singing (because there isn't any bad singing) but more to give it a certain feel.
