Yeah, I kept the record club vinyl cuz it came with an exclusive 2x marble green LP; sold the one I bought to a friend. But I did have two!

Those marble green vinyls do sound pretty cool though.

What vinyl club are you a member of?

"I just don't know how anyone could think that upon hearing this for the first time."

It's not that I disliked the album, per se, it was that most of it kind of went in one ear and out the other, nothing really grabbed my attention, and I wasn't really distracted with anything while listening.

Not a bad album by any means, and I get the appeal, but it just wasn't for me. Maybe I'd like it more nowadays, since it has been a while.

I was a member of 'Vinyl Me, Please.' But I just figured that the chances of me getting something that I hadn't heard of, that was extremely enjoyable, was pretty slim. I also couldn't justify the price after 3 months; pretty expensive to ship to canada.

What I like the most about this album is that it sound really nostalgic to me, as if I've heard most of these songs during my childhood (probably due to Granduciel's influences).

@Hopelust, what other records did you get during that period?

I got:

Jonathan Allen Guerra (or JAGuerra), which is good, and probably the best album I received that I had never heard of.

Sylvan Esso, which I don't mind, and play from time to time. Also comes with a wicked vinyl colour, transparent bright yellow.

Madvillain - Madvillainy, which by this site is a pretty phenomenal rap record, but my rap spectrum of enjoyment is limited, and find myself listening to it rarely at best. So while it's a decent listen, there's not much that draws me to it.

They price it at $120 for 3 months, so that works out to be about $40 american, which translates to even more canadian... I mean, they also throw in some other stuff but I found it to me mostly filler. A drink recipe to be paired with every album. Concept art as well... subscription to their newsletter every week. Sounds great on paper but I found myself slightly underwhelmed after three months, so I decided to cancel and just continue purchasing vinyl as I see fit, until some other vinyl club gets my attention that might be a little more in line with my music preferences.

You can check out the club at vinylmeplease.com. They have an archive of every album they've released each month.

True, the price does seem a bit excessive. Out of the records you listed, I've only listened to Madvillainy (which I love). The other two do sound pretty interesting though.

I find the idea of a vinyl club such as Vinyl Me, Please to be really interesting. I guess in reality it's not too practical, although they do have decent variety.

Yea, this record reminds me of Tom Petty and a lot of old timey rock.

It also reminds me of 'Young Turks' by Rod Stewart in a couple of occasions. It's a lot better than old Rod though.

Yeah, well having that surprise in the mail every month is great, but for $40+ a month, I'd rather just spend less buying my own records online and foregoing the 'surprise!' factor.

In all honesty, I can understand why people find this boring. I can't actually understand why I don't find it boring, because this is really a very simplistic album - there's just SOMETHING about the package as a whole.
