Number City is supremely overrated. About as much as the rest of the album is underrated.

Carol Ann is my favorite song off of this followed by The Hard Sell and Random Reality Shifts. Those three are way better than the rest of the album.

The Hard Sell kills it.
Gravity's Union is probably the best song off of this one though.

Gravity's Union is the only track on here that I really ever listen to anymore. The Hard Sell and Sentry The Defiant are alright, and I have to be in a specific mood for Number City. The rest just bore me tbh.
Gravity's Union is the best track on the two discs, though, with the exception of maaaybe Evagria.

I agree about Carol Ann and Random Reality Shifts. I wish they would go back to those demos, at least Random Reality Shift, and do a full band version of that. I was really bummed with the end product of Iron Fist.

also, just gotta say Number City is a badass song

I think Ascension is significantly better than this. Mothers of Men is the only track on there. Whereas this... eh, I agree with what Archelirion said about this.

What in particular do you dig? I might need to revisit it but I just thought was aimless and overlong.
Yeah this and the new one were both crap. Barely resembles mid 2000s Coheed.

I like how the song goes through a series of changes, clearly building up to a huge climax. And then it finally drops with that pulverizing yet catchy outro. Really well laid out track. The modern successor to songs like Everything Evil and the Crowing.
Sentry's studio version never got me going as hard as the acoustic demo did (think it might be that wishy-washy drum pattern) but it's still an enormous song in its own right. Great sing-a-long.
The Hard Sell's relentless chugging appeals to the child in me.
My rating is based solely on the first half of the album though. Strong enough to deserve it. Tanks pretty fucking hard starting with Away We Go. Dark Side of Me is okay but only just.

Dark Side of Me seems like they built an entire crappy song around Claudio being able drone the title of the song forever
