Boris is all over the place
A few of their albums are whole experiences like this, esp:
feedbacker, worship, dronevil, and absolutego
Flood and feedbacker will appeal to post rockers
New Album and Noise will appeal to shoegazers
Worship, Dear, and Dronevil appeal to drone doom
And Heavy rocks I, Pink, and akuma no uta appeal to stoner metal

Jamming part 2 on the rear balcony of the cruise ship, looking out into the pure black ocean. It’s beautiful

“Would be a 5 if not for Flood I”
I can’t imagine this album without it tbh, it’s pretty integral

Boris was trying to make a name for themselves back then. They were being edgy and unique to the max to stand out which explains Part 1. They usually skip Part 1 live too which is interesting.
It was a really odd stylistic choice because some mellow chords could have done the same thing without being nearly as maddening. Or half the length. 13 minutes of plucking the same pattern is absurd even with the awesome ambience at the end.

I don't know, There'll be times that I skip 1, but I find myself entranced with it. And when the timing of the pluck slightly changes it fucks me up a little. Worst part of the album for sure, but I think it's a little underappreciated.

Yeah flood 1 is basically always skippable. Sometimes I will listen to it just to remind myself that it's about 10 minutes too long.
