How cool would it be if Thrice's next album is a concept album about Jesus? I dig Jesus as a mythical figure and moral compass, I just don't dig people thinking he is God when we can't even prove he was a human. Anyway, they should title it, "It's Not Pounding Jesus Into Your Face."

PS - I was raised Catholic and intend no offense with the religious remarks; it's just how I feel.

"we can't even prove he was a human."

aren't there non-religous documents from the time that show he existed?

of course it's not 100% certain, but most likely he did.

so he's either god or he was an extremely influential moralist

fuck this is gonna turn into a religion thread now

And how 'bout that JC concept album, huh? That would be so fucking ballsy and epic.

I've always loved Thrice, and can remember how blown away I was when Vheissu was first released because of their newfound sense of experimentation. That now seems to be the only album of theirs that I've outgrown and never go back to...guess I can see the comparisons with Major/Minor. This is the first Thrice album I can truly say I just don't like. Shrug.

Kitsh, I appreciate the attempt at humor. I do. What I meant was "he" is not anywhere to be found in the contemporery historical records written during his supposed lifespan. Mark, the first gospel, was written around 70 AD, which means he could not have been an adult, peer eyewitness of Jesus, nor one of his Apostles. His gospel is the one upon which the others are based, and, thus, they are even less reliable in terms of proximity to the alleged actual events. Hence, we cannot prove that a human being named Jesus, that lived as described by the gospels, ever existed. It's far, far more reasonable and likely that the story of Christ is a myth based on an amalgam of social revolutionaries, "healers", and pagan symbolism. Really nice try, though.

Amen, Cap'n'. Amen.

I like to pretend that there aren't any religious messages in their music and that it's just damn good lyric/songwriting.

You don't have to pretend about the great lyric/songwriting; that part is real.

Okay, sputnik. I was wrong. This is so, so, so good. Anthology just happens to be the least interesting song.
