i got the impression it was a typical hipster album. pseudo intellectual pretentious bullshit. running up that hill kept me going and i slowly got used to it. the second half especially is all over the place but reading about the concept helped me a lot to make sense of it

The themes on this album are pretty basic stuff like lost love, family, dreams. Kate uses interesting visuals and metaphors, but this album is pretty accessible in terms of lyrics. Some of her earlier stuff might be lumped in with "pseudo-intellectual" if that's your beef. IMO it's just creativity of the kind the pop world needs more of.
