The cleans aren't great, but I don't get why they're such a big deal.

Because it ruins the chaotic epic atmosphere when a wimpy generic voice comes in.

The chaotic epic atmosphere wouldn't be as effective if that was what the entire album was built on. As for "generic" -- there aren't really a lot of unique singing voices. They could have asked the chick from Soap&Skin or Dear Euphoria to do the vocals or something, but mostly everyone is singing in the same style.

Ya that's true. I just think it would have been better if the clean parts were instrumental is all.

the clean vocals could be considered gay if they were used poorly, but they are used in exactly the right places. album slays dick

Motiv3...

because metalheads are shortsighted buffoons who get butt-hurt whenever a vocalist in a metal band sounds even slightly like he could fit in Chiodos.

Nevermind the fact that the vocals are actually very good, and provide a nice melodic backdrop that does nothing but enhance the music...

agreed 100 percent

about 6 minutes into "Nicholas" we get a break, and then the clean vocals come in with a mountain of chunky guitar attacks that keep pushing the orgasm meter until the song fades out 2 minutes later. And you know what? The 'gay' clean vocals make that part sound a lot more epic

well since I first heard Nichólas in 2008, though I do love that song, it can't really have song of the year. It's fucking amazing though.
