His new EP.. let's just say you know you're doing something wrong when the remixes are better than the original tracks from the album

in the grand scheme of all popular music, moore is pretty original... he obviously takes his cues from the big boys, but his mixes all still retain the same character... also he doesn't seem to have a huge ego.
Just because he's borrowing from a wide variety of sounds doesn't make him original. But I'm not looking for originality (it's pretty tough to find any in the world of more bass heavy dubstep) but I guess I'm just a little irked by how commercial he makes his music. I mean it's cool that more people are becoming aware of the genre as a result of Moore, but it's obvious he's just pandering to the young kids with his beats

yeah i don't think you read that like i meant it dev. i wasn't arguing that borrowing from a wide array of sources makes him original (that came before the 'but' lol)...
instead i think the fact that he has sort of a signature sound-one for which he is instantly recognizable (no matter how crude and poppy it may seem to somebody who worships burial and noisia and the word alive) speaks volumes about the dude
u can hate him for bastardizing a treasured subgenre by pandering to the kids, but admit it you would much rather kids going to see skrillex than flo rida or millionaires or other shit like that...

I wouldn't say he has a signature sound though, but maybe that just comes from listening to this kinda stuff for years though. I'll listen to this and just immediately become aware of the influences that he's wearing a little too obviously on his sleeve.

im just assuming you wouldn't give this above a 3 haha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r20lTeWsH_U
but i also really don't care about the kids... i meant that since i enjoy listening to the music somewhat, it's GOTTA be better than unlistenable party up crap
and about the recognizeable sound, im not really talking about seasoned, experienced electronic ears like yours. i mean normal, frat bro ears who arrived at skrillex directly from RIGHT ABOUT NOW THE FUNK SOUL BROTHA CHECK IT OUT NOW THE FUNK SOUL BROTHER RIGHT ABOU...

Oh man, I love Fatboy Slim
Anyway, the new ep just leaked and it's pretty ratty. 3 new tracks, and 1 of them is just a re-jig of another one. And 4 more remixes of 'Scary Monsters....'

for some reason, a big floppy haircut, some makeup and half-decent pipes where all that was needed then, though. i don't think his fame is image-based now. the stuff is just undeniably catchy and milks out the mainstream's obsession with hard house club beats.

Yeah. The remixes are good though, even though I'm getting pretty god damn sick of that song. The new songs are pretty average.

If that was to me acad, then no. For the most part I don't listen to trance

I liked this at first, but meh. Only tracks I like are Rock N' Roll, and Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Original and Zedd remix).
