Honestly, I used to like Down on the Upside a lot more than I do now. It's just not as consistent or as inspired as Superunknown and Badmotorfinger. I still like it more than any Nirvana album though. I'm also not a huge fan of Pearl Jam, but Ten and Vs. are undeniably great.

BGWTB is just a great hard rock/metal album. I wouldn't even necessarily call it grunge since it's so far removed from the grunge era, but it's a solid solid album with great songwriting, melodies, riffs, lyrics, the whole shebang.
