The first minute of "I Wouldn't If You Didn't" is one of the most br00tal things they've ever written.

But I do think it's better than Miss Machine because I'm not a huge fan of the poppy songs on that album. They incorporate the catchy stuff a helluva lot better on this album.

I Wouldn't If You Didn't is such a crazy song. I love it!

I've been listening to Dillinger for a long time and I enjoy it as much as I did Calculating Infinity and moreso than Miss Machine and Ire Works. To me, it is a great progression.

"Highway Robbery", "Phone Home", and "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" are pretty poppy.

And I really don't understand all the hype about Irony Is a Dead Scene.

I don't really see any of those songs as poppy catchy maybe, but not poppy. irony is just awesome, because for a band who's instrumental side is as crazy as DEP's Mike Patton's probably the only vocalist with enough of a vocal range to compete with the instruments. Plus songwriting is tits and such.

Yeah that's what I meant.

I agree, but as a whole I don't think it compares to CI, MM, or OP. "Come to Daddy" isn't very good at all. That leaves three great songs on Irony compared to the six plus great songs on their other releases.

Yeah but Come To Daddy is an Aphex Twin cover, the three original tracks are great and Pig Latin opened the door for pretty much every melodic and less technical song they've written. Irony is awesome.

SlightlyEpic has pretty much owned this thread. But moving on...

Not that it matters, but I've been a Dillinger fan for more than 6 years (I'm pretty sure they already had like 4 or 5 releases out six years ago, if you count Miss Machine) and I think this is great. Who knows if it's truly BETTER than CI, IIADS, MM or UtRB -- it's another fantastic Dillinger album. I didn't think Ire Works was bad, it's just not quite on par with most of their other stuff in my opinion. But then again, I like it about the same as Irony, maybe even more. Which is weird, because I've been obsessed with Mike Patton for over a decade.

Either way, this album is loads of fun and actually has a lot of depth too (at least from the 3 full listens I've given it). So. Yeah. Who cares where it ranks, it's not even out yet.

Is it me or does some of the loungy parts of "Widower" remind you of The Sims?

Huh, I thought most of the songs on Miss Machine contained Greg at his most Patton-esque. Probably because he was basing his parts of IIADS, at least that was my thinking. The chorus of Unretrofied is so Album of the Year sounding to me.

I gotta say this album has made a DEP fan once again. I was ho-hum on Miss Machine and didn't think much of Ire Works, but Option Paralysis is FUCKING BRILLIANT.

Yeah I thought I'd give this album a little break, and put on CI.

God damn did the production hurt my ears. Same with Miss Machine.

Lol Elitist Dillinger fans. I think this album rules, but it takes time to really let it sink in as with all their albums. Miss Machine is my favorite, but I have to give OP time to sink in. And Chris Pennie did some of the songwriting but its always been thrown on Ben's shoulders, hence why hes the only original member and they have retained their core sound, thats hard to do.
