True innovation right there. And don't forget that the lyrics are intentionally awful.

thanks for contributing to the downfall of popular music
The fact that it's made to be popular means that it sucks 90% of the time so your argument is invalid. Artists make bad music because it appeals to the masses and because they want to make music. They don't care whether or not their music is actually good, they just want to make money, and they will do whatever the fuck they want to get it (aka a cashgrab). The fact is: why make good music if you can produce utter crap and sell a million copies of it? I stopped expecting commercial music to be good a long time ago and every now and then there's I get surprised that a good song is actually selling well but that goes away fast when you see how awful today's popular music scene actually has become.
Just look at how they butchered Lykke Li's 'I follow rivers' with that godawful remix to make it appeal more to the masses (it's the only version of the song that's being played on the radio in my country). That's fucking disgusting.
And now I'm fucking depressed...

"I love when padlocks zip"
Thank you for pointing out the lyrics that are supposed to be ridiculous? lol. Good points against Ke$ha.
"i don't think she's lampooning anything i think she's just a dumb party slut"
Dude, she probably has more obscure and in-depth music taste than you and she got in some of the very top percentile of the SATs, assbutt.
"role reversal
so deep
never been done before either"
1. The fact that you think music has to be deep to be good is lol
2. No one claimed it was deep, just that it was rich with satire
3. It really hasn't been done much before. Especially at the level that she was able to bring it, so I don't see what you're apparently ridiculously clever point was.
"this shit sucks, let this whore die. nothing to see(hear) here, move along."
I remember when I wanted people who make music I might not care for to die.

lol, SATs... gabe do you just defend these people because no one else does or do you actually like this crap

Oh god, now will come the argument that "SATS DON'T ACTUALLY MEAN INTELLIGENCE MAN, SHE PROBABLY JUST GOT LUCKY AND TESTED WELL. THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS FLAWWWWWED, MAN. I MEAN I DIDN'T GET A GOOD SCORE AND MY MOM SAYS I'M A GENIUS SO EXPLAIN THAT" If you listen to her in real interviews (like the one on NPR), you can even hear how intelligent she is irl. Even if this was simply "dumb party slut", it's still fun as hell so the it's largely irrelevant. I don't like this for the social commentary and satire, it's enjoyable because it's well put-together and fun.
and I actually love them ( :

except for Soulja Boy. I only find him okay with the need to find his own fucking niche but all of the
mixtapes he's released this year have shown a certain number of golden tracks and artistic integrity
instead of spitting out whatever, so I'm excited. The main problem is that he switches from style to
style because it feels like he doesn't have much of his own and sooo much filler.

"There's nothing ridiculous about the lyric about zipping padlocks and the girl that's smarter than me
was too stupid to know it and it was on accident since she's so stupid and dumb and stupid and not
deep even though the whole track's lyrics were written to
be humorous"
Oh do tell me more.

Lol, this thread. It's always best when both sides make idiotic arguments.
Anyway, you were right, gabe. Cannibal was a lot better. I was surprised.
