I don't mind TTTSNB. I like all the songs on AJFA as well.

the thing that should not be is terrible.

Weakest on the album maybe, but terrible? Naw, heavy as fuck and has a sweet ass solo, and also gets kudos for being their first song to venture into a tuning that I would normally see as unsuitable for thrash

EDIT:

I like all the songs on AJFA as well

I like em all except Frayed Ends of Sanity

This is just a futile attempt to recapture their '80s sound, streamlined for mainstream consumption. And it's not as good Ride the Lightning.

No, that would be St. Anger.
DM is exactly what it sounds like, 2000's Metallica attempting to play 80's Metallica.
It works but in the process of trying to emulate themselves they completely void the music of any real passion. It's a good album, but it's just Metallica playing it by the numbers.

I was extremely disapointed with this album. I mean i know Metallica where never 100% capable of writing some kick-ass lyrics but in all honesty that doesnt mean they shouldnt try. The riffs on the album are simple and makes some songs seem rushed and done in a matter of a few days. I also read in a guitar magazine that the solo for "The Judas Kiss" was improvised on the spot and had to be re-learnt by ear. Poor album it

Poor album it seems Metallica are sliding downhill in their musical talent and are struggling to produce music to compete with old albums such as "Kill em All" and "Ride the Lightening"
